It was a little late in coming, but I’ve updated Birdathon to version 1.5.1 which includes the latest taxonomy from Clements/eBird, the American Ornithological Society (AOS), the American Birding Association (ABA) and Pyle’s standard Alpha codes.
Clements is now current as of August 2022. The taxonomic order and common names for Birdathon are derived from the Clements checklist
The American Ornithological Society (AOS) checklist included is current through the 63rd supplement, July 2022
The American Birding Association (ABA) checklist is now version 8.11b, which contains all changes up to August 2022
Alphabetic (“alpha” or “banding) codes come from the Institute for Bird Populations, maintained by Pyle and DeSante, which was updated August 17, 2022. The four-letter codes, which can make it very easy to narrow down a search to a single bird (try searching for ‘blph’ for example), come from here
In November 2022, a team of us at the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society evaluated the Rarity codes for Santa Clara County, California and along with a couple new species, these updates are also included in Birdathon 1.5.1.
This update should also eliminate any warnings about Birdathon needing to be updated to stay compatible with the current operating system. If you see any issues, please let us know at support@voyageropen.com
